I had the great pleasure of doing makeup for the More Sisters in the past. It was only a matter of time that Brittany, the youngest of 3 would walk down the aisle as well.
After saying hello to Mom and Dad the day of Brittany’s consultation, I felt a comfort upon walking through the door. There was a trust that was built and had continued from sister to sister. That was so fulfilling. It was then when I realized, I didn’t just do “my job” of applying makeup, I created a bond I think will last a very long time.
A Makeup Artist’s “job” is so much more. The client has a wall they put down, a trust they put forth as artists zoom into their faces seeing every wrinkle, every pore, and every pimple. Y’all don’t know how many times people apologize to me for something about their face (and it’s always the first thing that happens as soon as they sit in my chair). There is a vulnerability and an artist’s job is to make their client feel comfortable and beautiful. Sure we aren’t psychiatrists but listening comes with the job as well as putting forth positive energy.
Brittany, thank you for letting me be a part of such a special day. I look forward to dolling you and your family up for many more occasions in the future.
