THE MAKEUP SHOW NY 2015
May 4, 2015

Oh the Makeup Show , how I love you so!

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of The Makeup Show so it has been a very big deal with celebrations of all sorts. As usual, the madness of people trying to get their products was pretty normal like ever year – hah!

The show, (as well as IMATS) is not just for purchasing products at discounted prices – since many Makeup Artists already have discounts with all sorts of brands. It’s about bringing an entire community of artists together under one roof. It’s about networking, building new relationships and maintaining old ones. It’s about supporting each other and growing / developing skills. There are so many classes offered during the show, both free and paid for which should be taken advantage of.  Art is a never ending learning experience, so picking at the brains of other artists  is essential and inspirational as well. Whether you’re just starting out at a Makeup Artist, or have been in the industry for a long time, every one has something to learn!

I took a couple of classes with Bethany Townes – a Bridal class and Business class and stood in on some and stood demonstrations that took place on the main floors then went to town on some shopping! I don’t know about you guys who attended the show, but I definitely surpassed the budget I set for myself- FML. I also met some amazing people who I definitely plan on keeping in touch with like Justin Heslop from NARS , Dior,  Rachel and Laura from Makeupforever . I also ran into my lovely Melissa Herrara from OCC lip tar <3

There is something about the spirit that Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists have- We are therapists, we are social, we are empathetic, sympathetic, we are expressive, relatable – UGH I can go on haha – but to be surrounded by all of that in one space, is pretty damn amazing – if you look past the chaos of all the people trying to purchase stuff of course. When you start having 1 on 1 conversations with the people at these shows, it is really refreshing!

I’m sure you all want to see the products I purchased from the Makeup Show. I will have to put that into another post but to list it:

– Kat Von D Contour Palette
– Inglot liquid liners
-Smash Box primers
– Lashes
– NARs foundations, concealers and bronzers
– Brush cleaners

Will talk about them and the other things I got in my next post!
